The inspiration behind our parkland walks

In 2007 we acquired 60 acres of arable land surrounding Pury Hill Business Park and transformed it into permanent pasture for livestock, parkland and woodland for wildlife, as well as walkways for clients. This unique space helps promote our clients’ health and wellbeing, where they can enjoy the countryside and take a break from their busy working day. We also welcome all dogs to the business park, and take huge pleasure in seeing our clients walking their dogs around our grounds. We do ask that they are kept on a lead at all times, to avoid disturbing any birds and wildlife.

BOOK A TOUR

From framland to parkland

Renowned landscape designer Julian Dowle helped shape the vision for our parkland and walking routes. Over 1,000 semi-mature trees were transplanted from a 15-year-old woodland using a large tree spade brought in from the USA. Once relocated, many were staked and supported to help establish strong root systems, creating shelter for thousands of young trees and allowing further planting across the site.

The result is a structured, mature landscape that feels established, designed to enhance the walking routes used exclusively by our clients.

Wildlife returns

The site was designed as open grassland interwoven with woodland and hedgerows to create a varied habitat and encourage wildlife to return to what was previously arable land.

Several miles of native hedgerows were planted, linking over 50,000 trees and shrubs across new woodland belts. A carefully selected mix of planting in natural groupings creates a layered habitat rather than a closed canopy, increasing shelter and nesting opportunities for wildlife.

The six ponds have also become an important habitat in their own right, attracting a growing range of aquatic life including little grebe, coot, moorhen, tufted duck, wigeon and mallard.

Over 100 species of birds have been recorded across the site, supported by more than 400 nesting boxes, encouraging a wide range of wildlife including owls, kestrels, swallows, house martins and smaller woodland birds.

Mapping out the trails

Over three miles of woodland walks and running trails have been created across the estate, including a circular all-weather walking and running track that weaves through woodland and around six lakes.

Picnic benches and seating are placed throughout the parkland, offering quiet spots to pause, with tenants often having lunch overlooking the water surrounded by birdsong. A circular all-weather route also provides a dedicated loop for runners.
